Although the role genetic testing is expanding in prostate cancer and across cancer types, there is much to be discovered. Moreover, the genetic components of the disease are not as well established in prostate cancer as they are in other tumor types such as breast cancer.
At the 2019 Prostate Cancer Consensus Conference, experts in the field discussed the growing need for genetic testing and genetic counselors in prostate cancer. Moreover, experts provided insight on the patient populations who should undergo genetic testing verses those who do not need formal testing.
