Dr. Holzbeierlein on the Management of Bladder Cancer Guidelines

Jeffrey M. Holzbeierlein, MD, professor, director of Urologic Oncology, Department of Urology, University of Kansas Medical Center, discusses the management guidelines for patients with bladder cancer.

The guidelines were a multidisciplinary collaboration involving representatives from the American Urological Association (AUA), Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO), ASCO, American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), and a patient advocate.

Having a multidisciplinary group brings more validity to the guidelines, explains Holzbeierlein. Bringing together a variety of disciplines educates many people who were not aware of options outside of cystectomy.
