Dr. Lenz on Need for New Treatment Strategies in Colorectal Cancer

Heinz-Josef Lenz, MD, FACP, associate director for Adult Oncology and co-leader of the Gastrointestinal Cancers Program, USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, discusses the need for new treatment strategies in colorectal cancer (CRC).

Immunotherapies are providing a long-lasting duration of response in certain patients with CRC—breaking from the typical course of chemotherapy in this disease.

As for new treatments, Lenz says that a stem cell-targeting approach may be the most effective treatment to potentially cure patients.
