Suzanne Mahon, DNS, RN, AOCN, AGN-BC, FAAN, a clinical nurse specialist and professor emeritus at Saint Louis University, discussed the importance of integrating genomic science into oncology practice to support personalized treatment and risk assessment. In a presentation at the 50th Annual Oncology Nursing Society Congress, Mahon emphasized the need for oncology nurses to expand their foundational knowledge in genetics to effectively interpret somatic and germline testing results, guide clinical decision-making, and facilitate patient and family education.
