Following chemotherapy, patients are restaged, and a multidisciplinary tumor board recommends next steps based on the patient’s response to systemic chemotherapy, says Patel.

Generally, chemoradiation is recommended for patients with a single site of disease who responded well to chemotherapy. Subsequently, a tumor board will decide whether radiation or surgical resection is the optimal approach to treat lung nodules, concludes Patel.
