Dr. Schwartz on Future Research in Sarcoma

Gary K. Schwartz, MD, discusses future research in sarcoma.

Gary K. Schwartz, MD, professor of medicine, chief, Division of Hematology/Oncology, deputy director, Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center, Columbia University Medical Center, discusses future research in sarcoma.

Despite available data, there is still so much to learn in the sarcoma space, says Schwartz. Most specialistswho treat sarcoma also treat melanoma, leading many to try to determine the nuances of immune response in each disease.

Over the past decade, immunotherapy has revolutionized the melanoma space, transforming the disease into one that can be cured. Unfortunately, in sarcoma, less progress has been made, Schwartz concludes.
