Nurse-executive and partnership manager honored for dedication to local heroes.
Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is proud to announce that Kimberly Sweeney, MBA, RN, Vice President of Patient Care Experience, has been awarded the distinguished Trooper Stetson Award by the New York State Troopers Police Benevolent Association (PBA), and Ashley Snowden, Executive Director of Physician and Valued Partner Engagement, received the Meritorious Service Award from the Buffalo Fire Department and Buffalo Fire Fighters Local 282.
Sweeney was recognized through the PBA’s State Trooper Surgeons Program for her dedication to providing exceptional care to New York State Troopers and their families, ensuring they receive expert and attentive care. “It is truly an honor to receive this award and to be part of the State Trooper Surgeons Program,” says Sweeney.
“Supporting the health of those who serve and protect our communities is deeply meaningful, and I am grateful for the trust the Troopers and their families have placed in me.”
Snowden’s efforts have been instrumental in advancing cancer prevention and support programs for the Buffalo Fire Department. The recognition acknowledges her commitment to the health and well-being of the BFD workforce. Firefighters are at a higher risk for developing cancer, with studies showing that they are 9% more likely to be diagnosed than the general population due to the nature of their job.
“It’s a privilege to receive the Local 282 Meritorious Service Award and to work alongside the members of the Buffalo Fire Department,” says Snowden. “I am committed to improving the health and well-being of our firefighters, and it’s fulfilling to see the positive impact of our cancer prevention efforts. I’m honored to contribute to the mission of supporting those who serve our community.”
These recognitions underscore Roswell Park’s commitment to supporting those who serve, providing care and resources that improve health outcomes and enhance quality of life.
