PLAINSBORO, NJ (Jan. 28, 2015) — OncLive® and the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center of Johns Hopkins Medicine have become collaborators to raise awareness of leading innovations in cancer care through OncLive’s Strategic Alliance Partnership program, OncLive announced today.

Through the Strategic Alliance Partnership program, the OncLive editorial and marketing teams will work with the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center to highlight faculty, key clinical trial research, and educational activities at the Center, which is designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute.

The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center is a world leader in discoveries related to how cancer works and new ways to treat it. Clinicians at the Center work closely with research scientists, enabling the rapid transfer of new drugs and treatments from lab to the clinic, which gives patients access to treatment options on the forefront of medicine. The Center offers a range of programs for adults and children battling cancer, as well as a comprehensive genetics service for those at high risk for developing certain cancers.

The alliance will give healthcare professionals and patients direct, timely access to important oncology research and clinical practice news from the Kimmel Cancer Center and more than 30 other leading cancer centers, nursing schools, and physician groups around the country via OncLive’s publications.

The Kimmel Cancer Center has a rich history of research highlights and discoveries related to cancer, including the pioneering research that defined cancer as a genetic disease. Researchers at the Center were the first to map the cancer genome and the genetic blueprints for colon, breast, pancreatic, and brain cancers. The Center’s genetic research has led its scientists to other important discoveries, including new cancer screening tests, new ways of monitoring cancer progression, and development of multiple therapeutic cancer vaccines.

Mike J. Hennessy Jr., senior vice president, oncology & specialty pharmacy, said, “We are honored to collaborate with the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center to get the word out about the Center’s exciting research and clinical programs. By sharing new developments related to cancer, we are actively working to raise the standard in cancer care.”
