The Marshalls go beyond the pages of their new memoir, Off Our Chests: A Candid Tour Through the World of Cancer, to discuss how Liza's diagnosis of triple-negative breast cancer changed their lives and the key messages they hope readers will take from their book.
Welcome to OncLive On AirTM! I’m your host today, [Gina Mauro].
OncLive On AirTM is a podcast from OncLive, which provides oncology professionals with the resources and information they need to provide the best patient care. In both digital and print formats, OncLive covers every angle of oncology practice, from new technology to treatment advances to important regulatory decisions.
Today, we had the pleasure of speaking with John Marshall, MD, chief of the Division of Hematology/Oncology at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital, professor of medicine and oncology, and director at the Otto J. Ruesch Center for the Cure of Gastrointestinal Cancer at Georgetown-Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, and his wife, Liza Marshall, to discuss the journey of Liza’s diagnosis with triple-negative breast cancer.
Liza had been diagnosed with stage III TNBC in November 2006. John Marshall was also significantly impacted by the news, as he had to balance his time being a leading gastrointestinal oncologist and a caregiver for his wife.
The entire journey is also documented in the Marshalls memoir Off Our Chests: A Candid Tour Through the World of Cancer, which will be released in hardcover format on May 4, 2021. The book can be preordered on Amazon.
OncLive and CURE sat down with the Marshalls to go beyond the pages of their memoir and discuss how this triple-negative breast cancer diagnosis changed the lives of a patient and her gastrointestinal oncologist husband.
In our exclusive interview, both John and Liza Marshall discussed how this TNBC diagnosis changed their lives and the key messages they hope readers will take from their book.
